Tucked away behind The Corner Store Gallery is a room filled with art and craft supplies. Since we moved into our new home behind the gallery I’ve been lucky enough to inherit this little room as my new studio and craft room, much to my husband’s delight (no more painting on the kitchen table). I feel incredibly lucky to have this space, it’s right off the gallery so while I’m at work I can hide away and keep my practice alive.Read More
There are some moments in life when you just have to stop, take it all in and think “WOW“! When I walked into Genevieve Bessell-Browne’s home and studio, this was one of those moments. Genevieve is a collector. Beautiful, vintage, porcelain figurines cover every horizontal surface, and some of the walls. There are flowers and plants everywhere and then there’s the art. Paintings featuring the beloved collection of knick-knacks, vintage fabric and other objects cover the walls. I was in heaven!Read More
Meet Rita Orsini, another of our Sydney based artists exhibiting as part of our next exhibition Three Journeys. Rita is a painter, jeweller, maker and French teacher. She has the most fantastic space to paint, teach and display her wares to the public in a converted garage complete with her beloved French style barn door. With street frontage it’s the perfect home gallery with studio attached.
I caught up with Rita at her very arty home to find out more about her varied practice.Read More

The Corner Store Gallery invites artists to submit work of any medium or style featuring the landscape as subject matter. Artworks must measure no larger than 1m squared. Lara Scolari is no stranger to us here at The Corner Store Gallery, exhibiting with us back in 2016 for Cool Luxe. Before her exhibition in 2016, we visited gorgeous Lara at her home studio and gallery in Balmain. Lara’s stunning and vibrant work has evolved and developed into exciting new territories over the past 2 years. This year she’s bringing her most recent work back to Orange for Back to the Bush, a new exhibition showcasing Lara’s love of the bush and Central West.Read More

I'd describe Amy as a mark maker and mixed media artist. Her work is built up of layer upon layer of different mediums such as acrylic paint, pencil, pastels and charcoals. Amy also uses collage techniques to create textural, tactile qualities. Her themes vary from still lifes through to landscapes, and sometimes a mixture of the two.
As well as completing this series of work for Suburban Requiem which making its way to The Corner Store Gallery, Amy already has one solo exhibition under her belt after the birth of her first baby Maeve in 2017. I caught up with Amy to learn just how she does it...Read More
This morning I attended one of the Small Worlds Watercolour Workshops with one of our favourite exhibiting artists Ingrid Bowen. Ingrid just finished up a week long residency here at The Corner Store Gallery as part of our special Artist Run Gallery Program. The gallery served as a working studio for Ingrid all week long as well as a workshop and exhibition space. Students were instructed to create a painting exploring the theme of "small worlds", something Ingrid does on a regular basis. If you're not familiar with her work have a look at one of our previous exhibitions here.Read More
In preparation for our next exhibition Floating Land I'd like to revisit our 2016 studio visit with Fiona Chandler. Fiona exhibited with us back in 2016 with Cowra based artist Shani Nottingham for Conversations in Colour. I visited Fiona at her beautiful home studio in Freshwater NSW to find out more about her practice at the time.Read More
Fiona Barrett-Clark is a Sydney based contemporary landscape painter. Her current series focusses on the land and skyscapes of the Central West, and the ever-familiar clouds we find gracing our skies. Each scene Fiona has captured transports you right to that place, I for one feel a strong nostalgia for the late Autumn sunsets driving from Orange to Bathurst.Read More

I’ve been drawing and painting since I could hold a pencil. As a small child I would sit for hours on my own just drawing, and well, I never really stopped! I was good at art from an early age and used it as an escape from the real world. When I finished school I went to Newcastle University to undertake a Bachelor Arts (Visual Arts) degree which I absolutely loved. Upon finishing that I also studied desktop publishing, and got a job as a graphic designer.Read More
