2-Part Beginners Crochet workshop
PLEASE NOTE: This is a 2-part workshop, you will need to be available for both dates!
Time/Date: Thursday May 25th, 7pm-9.30pm & Sunday May 28th 1-3.30pm - (2 x 2.5 hrs)
Cost: $110 for both days
What you'll get: a crochet hook to take home, yarn to practice with, an information booklet and plenty of tea, coffee and snacks to sustain you for the 2.5 hours of crafty fun!
Crochet is seriously addictive, it's something you can pick up and put down anytime and once you know the basics the world is your oyster! If you're interested in learning how to crochet you've probably had a look at some patterns in magazines or online and thought "What?! I don't understand!" It can be quite daunting but once you know how to get started you'll never stop!
On the first evening of this 2-part workshop you'll learn how to hold your crochet hook and yarn - sounds simple but can be quite tricky.... You'll also learn the basic stitches and how to read basic patterns. You'll have one week to practice these stitches so we can learn how to crochet a granny square in the second part. You'll learn how to make basic granny squares from a pattern and how to change yarn colours.
The class size will be small to maximise learning potential, so don't leave it too late to book! We recommend this workshop for people ages 16 and over. You can see pictures of our previous Crochet workshops here.
This workshop is taught by the gallery director Madeline Holborow and her sister, crochet addict, Holly Young. Madeline has a degree in Fine Arts and over 7 years experience of teaching art and craft workshops and classes. Madeline is a practicing artist, designer and general maker of beautiful things. IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Due to the nature of these workshops if the booking is cancelled after 19/05/2017 we cannot refund your ticket, however we are more than happy for you to find someone else to take your place.
"Most enjoyable, tho a bit frustrating at first. The basics were there, and some quiet time at home has brought it out and going well now. Thanks Maddy for persevering with us. It was well worth it."
"A great, inspiring workshop space. Maddie was very helpful and she approached all questions, mistakes in patterns and tangled yarn with a smile :) She was patient with those just learning and we all left after two nights of lessons with a granny square and motivation to keep practicing."
