This series explores the simplicity and beauty of the humble chair. From both a design perspective and as the keeper of a narrative of history and story-telling, chairs have long held a fascination for the artist. Liz has given each artwork the name of a person to imbue each with character and personality, suggestive of the chairs owner/s, past and present. They represent not just functional furniture but the enduring spirits of familial bonds, memory, and the passage of time.

Liz Fitzgerald has qualifications in graphic design and for many years taught visual arts at secondary school.

She made the transition to a full-time studio practice four years ago. Her artistic journey is one of reflection and exploration, inspired by the landscape and the beauty of everyday life. Liz’s artworks are typified by loose gestural brushwork and a level of simplicity; she aims to represent her subject as if caught in a moment in time. While working primarily in acrylics, she also uses oils and mixed media in the development of her artworks.

Liz shares a studio space with three other artists on the Mornington Peninsula, on the south coast of Victoria. She has held several solo and group shows since 2016 and her work is held in private collections in Australia and the US.

We charge a flat rate of $35 for all artworks within Australia, with an additional $5 added for each extra artwork purchased through our online store. All artworks are insured and come safely packaged. Any artwork marked for CUSTOM SHIPPING is either too large, too heavy or too delicate to ship with our flat rate and will need a custom shipping invoice.
