Dhapalany is a very skilled weaver.  She has been making fibre objects for utilitarian and ritual use since her early teenage years.  Her work includes mindirr (dilly bags), pandanus mats, gay’wu (bush string bags) and fish traps.

Dhapalany’s intricate fibre art creations have been displayed across the world. She has been selected as a finalist on a number of occasions for her works.

From fibre art to paintings depicting traditional stories—internationally renowned Bula’bula Arts supports 150 artist members from Ramingining and its surrounding outstations. Artists receive 60% of the retail sales price of the artwork, with the remainder used for all operational costs. Our arts centre is an iconic tropical elevation style building in the heart of the Ramingining community in Central Arnhem Land, 400 kilometres east of Darwin.

Our artists have a compelling material culture producing works of deep ritual and spiritual significance and are authentic in their connection to Yolngu (people) and their true nature and beliefs. The artworks contain meaningfulness about sophisticated and complex social structures: such as ceremonies, songs, language, creation beings, family and the Yolngu identity within, as well as the relationships between all things: such as animals, plants, birds, trees, fish and water.

Shipping:

Artwork is available for collection or shipping after the closing date of the exhibition, March 16, 2024.

We charge a flat rate of $35 for all artworks within Australia, with an additional $5 added for each extra artwork purchased through our online store. All artworks are insured and come safely packaged. Any artwork marked for CUSTOM SHIPPING is either too large, too heavy or too delicate to ship with our flat rate and will need a custom shipping invoice.

All online artwork sales are final and no refunds or returns will be accepted.
