The Corner Store Gallery
Located in Orange NSW on Wiradjuri Country, The Corner Store Gallery is an independently run space showcasing emerging and established artists from across a diverse range of creative mediums. With an exciting schedule of exhibitions, workshops, live music and pop up events, the gallery has proven itself as one of Australia’s most popular exhibition and collaborative spaces. Pippita Bennett - Following the Needle

Pippita Bennett creates stitched landscapes of places lived in and visited. Her home on Dharug and Gundungurra country is the source of her practice; she uses leaves, bark and flowers from her surrounds and the wild places she travels to dye the threads and textiles she works with, gathering extra inspiration from thrifted materials. Her dyed fabrics are soaked with the memory of the place they were dyed; similarly thrifted fabric holds memory of its past use.

Major Prize: $5000 cash prize, courtesy of Source Architects, and the opportunity to join our stable of artists, awarded to the overall winner of the competition.
Artists Residency: A two-week residency, at Quest Orange in 2023, to complete a body of work inspired by the Orange landscape. The final body of work will be exhibited at The Corner Store Gallery once completed and they have the opportunity to join our stable of artists. This prize will be awarded to a finalist who demonstrates exceptional promise and who may best benefit from the opportunity. This finalist may or may not be the same artist as the Major Prize winner.

Dirty Janes Orange
Visit our second exhibition space at Dirty Janes Orange, open 7 days a week from 10am until 5pm so you can view work form our collection any day of the week. We’ll have an ever-evolving mini exhibition of work from our stockroom on display at Dirty Janes, showcasing some of our best work.
Local painter Amanda Holman has been consistently exhibiting with The Corner Store Gallery for a number of years now. We first discovered Amanda through one of our many group exhibition opportunities, as we do many of our fabulous artists. From one entry comes many, and her popularity has grown exponentially during this time resulting in Amanda’s first solo exhibition Beyond 4 Walls opening this April at The Corner Store Gallery.
Amanda Holman is a truly lovely and warm person, as well as a wonderful artist in her own right. Her quiet and beautiful depictions of the Australian landscape begin with field trips and drives across this beautiful country we call home. Sometimes painted within the landscape, sometimes painted form photographs back in her home studio. Amanda’s studio is the stuff of dreams, located on the ground floor of her home, accessible via a courtyard from the street. It’s here I first played eyes upon the new body of work for Beyond 4 Walls. Take a look and find out more about Amanda’s practice.
