Andrea Kirkham-Hopgood

Atmospheric Landscape Paintings

Andrea Kirkham-Hopgood is a Melbourne-based contemporary artist known for her light-filled oil paintings of the Australian landscape. Working primarily in oil on canvas, she draws inspiration from her own photographs to capture intimate vignettes of the natural world. Her paintings range from small mantle-sized panels to large-scale statement pieces, each exploring colour, atmosphere, and the traditions of formal oil painting.

Often referencing familiar landmarks and roads, Andrea’s works reflect both the anticipation of a journey ahead and the comfort of returning home. Her evocative road scenes resonate with themes of optimism, travel, and belonging, making them deeply relatable to collectors of Australian landscape art.

With a Bachelor of Education in Art and Craft, Andrea balances her studio practice with teaching, workshops, demonstrations, and adjudication. Her art has been exhibited in galleries across Australia, including The Corner Store Gallery (Orange), Satch & Co (Holbrook), Gallery Alchemy (Milton), Lauriston Press (Kyneton), and Nissarana Galleries (Richmond). She has also showcased at major art fairs in Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne.

Andrea’s work is held in private and public collections worldwide. She has been recognised as a finalist in leading Australian art awards such as the Lethbridge Art Prize, the John Leslie Art Prize, and the Mornington Peninsula Regional Gallery Contemporary Art Prize, solidifying her reputation as a respected contemporary landscape painter.
