Anne Smerdon, Bananas, 2026

Anne Smerdon is an award-winning artist based in the Northern Rivers. Her work derives from intentional slowness, shirking the societal pressure to hustle and seek instant gratification. Celebrating the everyday and ordinary, her paintings encourage the viewer to be still and find meaning in what is already there. Her work often features the produce from her garden and the animals that dictate her schedule, documenting daily life as it is actually lived, embodied with slowness and patience.

Anne was recently selected as a finalist in the 2026 and 2024 Wollumbin Art Award, the 2025 STILL National Still Life Award, the 2024 Evelyn Chapman award, the 2024 Gold Coast Triennial and the 2023 Brisbane Portrait Prize. She was the winner of the Still Life category in The Doyles Art Award in 2021 and 2022.

I’ve long admired Giorgio Morandi’s ability to elevate humble objects into meditations on space and stillness. In this work, I echo that language while layering my own story. These bananas may seem plain, but for me they hold the weight of chronic illness, food intolerances and years of restricted diets (throughout which bananas were a safe food and staple in my daily meals).

Painting still life helps me to slow down and be present. I enjoy the challenge of seeing if I can elevate a simple, everyday scene into something that invites the viewer to linger a little longer, to ponder a little more.

Deb Michell-Smith, In The Bay, 2026

Deb Michell-Smith is an Australian artist based on a farm near Narrabri in north-west New South Wales. Working primarily in acrylic on canvas, her paintings celebrate the beauty, resilience and quiet stories of regional Australia through expressive mark-making, layered colour and recurring patterns.

Growing up on a large grazing property, Deb developed a deep connection to the Australian landscape that continues to shape her practice. Her work explores the relationship between people, place and memory, drawing inspiration from the outback, agricultural life, birds, coastlines and the colours of the natural world. Whether depicting vast paddocks, ancient ranges or the movement of birds across the sky, her paintings invite viewers to pause and reflect on the enduring spirit of the land.

Deb holds a Bachelor of Visual Arts and has been recognised as a finalist in numerous national art prizes, including the National Emerging Art Prize, John Villiers Outback Art Prize, Pro Hart Outback Art Prize, Tattersall's Landscape Art Prize, Waverley 9x5 Landscape Art Prize and the Prospect Portrait Prize. In 2025 she was awarded the People's Choice Award at the BAMM Biennale Portrait Prize and has held successful solo exhibitions, including The Pattern of Birds at Michael Reid Southern Highlands. Her work is held in private collections throughout Australia.

I paint the places that stay with me. Whether I'm walking through the outback, sitting beside the sea or driving home across the plains, I'm always noticing colour, movement and the small details that give a landscape its character. The flight of birds, the tracks through the grass, weathered rocks, a lone tree or the way the light changes across a paddock all become part of the story.

Back in the studio, I work in acrylic, building each painting through layers of colour, drawing and repeated marks. Pattern has become a natural part of my process. It helps me slow down, simplify what I'm seeing and capture not just what a place looks like, but how it feels to be there. My paintings aren't about creating a perfect representation of the landscape. They're about memory, connection and the feeling of belonging to a place. I hope they encourage people to pause for a moment, notice the beauty in the everyday and perhaps be reminded of somewhere that feels like home.

Eira Chidgey, Nook, 2026

My work concerns itself with my internal world, and translating personal and social issues as a representation of self. This mixed media painting, Nook, explores both the conscious and unconscious murmurs of the mind, how this inner space accompanies us through life, helping us process, reflect, and understand the world around us. Collaged fabric, layered on board, symbolises a cocoon, cosy place, or nook, both protective and comforting; the softness of the material, in contrast to the board, creates the feeling of safety that I often find within. The concept of nook as a quiet and sheltered recess or secluded spot, represents how our internal psyche provides sanctum from our external environments.

Eira Chidgey is a mixed media abstract artist currently based in Newcastle NSW. She holds a first class honours degree in Contemporary Applied Arts from Trinity St David University, and a diploma in Foundation Arts from City of Bath College. Her work has been exhibited widely and is held in private collections across Australia, Europe and the United Kingdom. A successful candidate in the highly competitive 2026 Mentorship Program at Newcastle Art Space, she is currently working alongside Patricia Wilson Adams for an upcoming group exhibition at Newcastle University. Other achievements include The Leda Art Prize, The Newcastle Club Foundation Art Prize, The Hunter Emerging Art Prize, The Mini Series Art Prize, and Inside This Box Art Prize. Notable group shows include Collect at The Lock Up, Summer Salon at Straitjacket, Alumni at Leda Gallery, Silver And Cold at Wester Gallery, Philocalist at Wonderground Barossa, and SIX at North Gallery. Leonie Barton lives and works rurally on the Mid North Coast with a multi disciplined practice grounded in process, in the physical act of making. Kate Owen, Fanfare, 2026

Kate Owen is an abstract artist with a passion for colour. Painting full time from her home studio, a creative oasis with expansive views of undulating country on their farming property in Northern NSW Australia. From an actively creative childhood through to fashion design after school and many subsequent professions, a common thread of colour and design is evident throughout. Kate took up painting full time in 2017 and was invited to join Greenhouse Interiors in 2019 which helped shape her career. She has had several solo exhibitions and group shows. Kate is now represented by Wentworth Galleries in Sydney and Brisbane and her pieces are widely collected and enjoyed in many homes across Australia and abroad.

My studio is a creative oasis surrounded by wide stretches of farmland, offering the physical and mental clarity that is essential to my practice. Within this quiet landscape, painting is an outlet that requires no words - a way of returning to myself.

I create abstract interpretations of organic forms sometimes resembling florals or landscapes through I am not bound by representation. My process begins with observation and absorption; a subconscious gathering of things that spark joy within heart and mind. While I sometimes sketch to explore ideas, I often prefer to let the work develop intuitively on the canvas, allowing each piece to discover its own rhythm and essence fuelled by the impulses of my stored visual impressions or even more simply the delight in one mark laid down in harmony or contrast with the next.
Working on a large scale or on multiple pieces at once keeps my gestures loose and expressive, preserving the physical joy of making. I use acrylic paint mixed with mediums to build layers of opacity and transparency, sometimes adding layers of oil paint and playing with oil sticks to introduce rich, luminous colour and reveal the beauty inherent in the mark itself.

Colour is central to my practice. I use it to heighten emotional resonance for myself and the viewer. Through each work, I hope to evoke the playful curiosity of childhood - a space where wonder, spontaneity and creativity are abundant.

Allis Hamilton, Windmill in the Marshes, 2025

Allis Hamilton is a creature of nature who creates music, poetry and visual art in the Australian bush. Her art has been finalist in the 2025 Waverley Woollahra 9” x 5” Landscape Art Prize; 2019 Adelaide Perry Prize for Drawing; semifinalist in the 2022 Doug Moran National Portrait Prize and longlisted for the 2019 Delphian Gallery Open Call (UK).

She was a finalist in the 2022 Montreal International Poetry Prize (Canada); and in 2024 was long-listed in the Bridport Poetry Prize (UK), and she had two poems long-listed in the National Poetry Competition (UK). Her poetry has appeared in Australian Poetry Journal, Caterpillar, Meanjin, Overland, Poetry London, Poetry Review, Southerly, Westerly; and in Guillemot Press's The Creel, and elsewhere. She has been a guest poet at festivals and readings in London, Melbourne, Canberra, and little towns around Australia. A poem of hers is studied in the NSW Year 12 curriculum through Education Perfect.

Karen Backus, Pattern Paradise, 2026

Karen Backus grew up on a property in Northern NSW and has completed a Bachelor of Visual Arts, majoring in drawing and printmaking at USQ, Toowoomba. Karen has taught Fine Arts at TAFE. She has also worked with the Boggabilla and Toomelah Aboriginal communities to develop and manage the Euraba Paper Company, which produced high quality paper, artworks, art cards and stationery.

Karen lives and works on a property outside of North Star in Northern NSW. She currently creates and sells ceramic pieces, drawings, watercolour and acrylic paintings. Karen also sells art cards, tea towels and limited and open edition prints of her works.

Karen selects colours, patterns and objects from her environment to tell stories of the familiar and generate memories of community and connection.

Finn Ryan, Roof Roosters, 2026

Finn Ryan is a lifelong resident of Central West NSW and a colourblind artist who creates realistic acrylic paintings celebrating the extraordinary in everyday people, creatures and objects. Living with an essential tremor has shaped his creative process, fostering patience, persistence and careful observation in each work. Balancing his practice with full-time civil engineering studies, he uses painting as a creative outlet to explore humour, curiosity and the overlooked beauty of daily life.

‘Roof Roosters’ depicts three Australian White Ibises surrounding a corrugated steel pump shed, set within a landscape of rugged shrubbery, gum trees, native grasses and steel. I am interested in the familiar visual language of the Australian landscape and how these natural and man-made elements have become intertwined within it. The ibises’ bright borders and striking white plumage contrast with the muted rural setting, while their rounded forms and bold primary colours draw attention to the structures and textures around them. By placing the birds within and on top of this constructed landscape, I aim to reflect the shifting relationship between nature and urban life in Australia, and the strange familiarity of these environments.

Jo Dunsmuir, Daffodils, 2025

Jo lives and works in a small Victorian coastal town on the Great Ocean Road. A painter with a love of oils, her work is influenced by the landscapes she experiences, both at home, and on her travels, and by the flowers and produce grown in her home garden. Her work is contemporary in approach, manipulating the qualities of oil paint to achieve a layered surface in her work, sometimes translucent, sometimes with texture.

Jo has been selected as a finalist in many national art prizes since 2021, including several hosted by The Corner Store Gallery, and has exhibited in many group shows. She held a solo with The Corner Store Gallery in 2024, and most recently, a joint exhibition with The Brunswick Street Gallery in Melbourne.

The works submitted reflect the pleasure of the changing seasons, leaving the cold of a Victorian Winter behind - a visit to a favourite coastal town, Yamba, in the beautiful Northern Rivers region of New South Wales, and celebrating the appearance of Daffodils, the first floral harbinger of Spring.

Marilyn Edgar, Simple Pleasures I, 2026

Lending a deep-rooted passion for space and design, I am a Victoria-based artist dedicated to translating the visceral connections between architecture, interiors, and emotion into oil on canvas. After over 25 years in tertiary education, specialising in interior design, the visual arts, the built environment, and the museum sector, my private art practice now delves into the places where art and design intersect. My exploration of colour theory and spatial histories invites viewers to pause and encounter the intimate bond between space and feeling through my work.

As a finalist in prestigious art prizes such as the OMNIA Art Prize and a member of The Victorian Artists Society, I have exhibited at galleries including Brunswick Street Gallery (Fitzroy), Aspire Gallery (Brisbane), East Gippsland Art Gallery (Bairnsdale), Quadrant Gallery (Melbourne), Red Gallery (Fitzroy), the Victorian Artists Society (Melbourne), and Hue and Cry Gallery (Geelong). In 2026, I was awarded an Honourable Mention at the global Best Art Awards 2026.

My work often delves into the interiors of built spaces, historical design, and contemporary environments. Through layers of oil paint, I create pieces that blur the boundaries between past and present, inviting reflection on both the enduring beauty and fleeting moments that shape our surroundings. Jacqui Brown, The Rise, 2026

I don’t experience my life or my art in clear stages. Instead, everything overlaps. Seven Seasons comes from that place of uncertainty - of not being able to pinpoint where I am, only knowing what I am feeling. Living and working in the Southern Highlands, I paint acrylic landscapes that hold personal memory. Furniture appears outdoors as a way of placing the private inside the open, and flowers become stand-ins for emotion when words fall short.

Each painting is made in response to what I am carrying at the time. The music I listen to shapes the mood. My family relationships and the hardships we move through leave marks in the work. So does the long, quiet journey of being an artist - facing rejection, watching others succeed, doubting myself, stepping away, and wondering if I should stop altogether.

There were seasons where I felt left behind, and others where I tried to let go of comparison. Eventually, something shifted. Not a resolution, but an arrival at a place I didn’t expect - one that still feels fragile and overwhelming in the best way. These works hold all of that at once. They are not about reaching a final season, but about staying with the mess, the movement, and the moments that change you.

The Rise reflects an artist moving through uncertainty, rejection, comparison, and change. Using acrylic landscapes, furniture placed in open space, and emotionally driven weather forms, the work brings private experience into view. Rather than defining one stage of life, these paintings hold many seasons at once - moments of doubt, endurance, and unexpected clarity - revealing an ongoing journey shaped by persistence, vulnerability, and growth.

Fran Connelley is a self-represented south coast-based artist who paints in acrylic on canvas. She has a passion for capturing the shifting light, moods, and sensuality of the Australian coastline. The recurring themes of her work are water, light and energy. Since moving to the south coast, her work has shifted to larger, more open landscapes and a new artistic perspective. Bigger skies, swirling storms and long, luminous beaches with the occasional beach walker or sunbaker simply enjoying the space.

I want people to feel as if they can immerse themselves in the landscape. Hear the waves rolling in, feel the offshore breeze and the sand in their toes. I love the idea that the canvas is a window into that world. I hope people can feel that same sense of ‘place’ that I feel when I paint.

Her influences are David Hockney, Winslow Homer, and Arthur Streeton. In recent years she has begun teaching a popular beginner’s painting class, “Fun with Acrylics.”

Brad Collins, Birds, Deaths & Marriages, 2025

Brad M Collins is a multi-disciplinary artist based on the Mid North Coast of NSW, on Birpai Land. Brad fuses humour with deeper meaning, utilising these contrasting, yet complimentary ideas to explore existential themes and internal reflection.

Brad creates a subtly-surreal setting where human figures wear animal masks or engage with anthropomorphic pelicans, while still lifes feature symbolically charged objects, celebrating or making sense of pivotal personal life experiences. Whether it's contemplating love, grief, loss or joy, a humorous tone welcomes the viewer before a deeper meaning is slowly revealed.

My practice explores everyday life through a humorous, surreal, existential lens. With a combination of oil painting, murals and illustration, I navigate my own emotions and ways of feeling about the world. I spend a considerate amount of time with my ideas, contemplating the simple act of buying eggs from a neighbour's chickens, attending a friend's wedding or reflecting on my mothers passing. My practice offers the time and space necessary to consider my values and decide how I want to live my life. I invite viewers to consider the message hidden below the layer of surrealism and humour and see how a lighter viewpoint can assist in understanding the difficult and unique moments in our lives.

Dominika Keller, Early Winter Pickings, 2025

I am a Polish-born contemporary painter and botanical illustrator, based in the serene Yarra Valley of South Eastern Australia. My home, garden and beautiful surrounds, present me with endless inspiration, with my work alternating between contemporary botanical illustrations, portraiture and still lifes, and always reflecting and celebrating my deep love of nature, its cycles and processes.

'Early Winter Pickings' is a composition capturing a seasonal bunch of homegrown native and exotic botanicals gathered on a crispy morning walk in winter. For me, this arrangement bridges my Polish heritage with my life in Australia, creating a visual conversation between two distinct identities. Honouring the ancient Australian landscape through the striking and sculptural shapes of coastal banksia, gum nuts and eucalyptus foliage, and interweaving these with poppies and Cobaea scandens - exotic blooms that evoke the romantic, old-world European gardens of my roots.

Luisa Gioffre-Suzuki, Splinter, 2026

Luisa Gioffre-Suzuki is a visual artist and painter based in Victoria, working on Waddawurrung Country. Her practice centers on painting and drawing, with a focus on formal abstraction and evocative mark-making.
Her practice was further shaped by living and working in Japan for over a decade. Highlights include solo exhibitions in Japan, moving back to Australia with her family and continuing the art journey in regional Victoria. Her work is held in private collections both in Australia and internationally.

Luisa’s practice is rooted in processes of drawing, painting, and printmaking, where line and gesture form the foundation of her exploration of memory and recall. Working through abstraction and reduction, she investigates how time reshapes personal and collective narratives, and how memory can be both fragile and enduring.

Across works on paper and canvas, Luisa maps internal and external landscapes that hover between the familiar and the imagined. Each mark functions as a trace - of thought, presence, or recollection -inviting viewers to encounter memory as shifting, layered, and open to reinterpretation.

Lucy Hersey, Finite, 2026

Earth pigment, copper verdigris, charcoal and binder on canvas, weathered branch, 80x29cm framed

Through a decade of research and practice dedicated to the use of earth pigments, Lucy Hersey has developed her own unique technique for making paint and representative paintings using thoughtfully collected local earth, soils and clay. Her work is deeply connected to the landscape, both in composition and in materiality; explored across large and small scale works, en plein air practice and more recently; sculptural form. Lucy’s work is informed by rigorous research, experimentation and methodical development of new techniques for using earth as a medium; as she blends pigment science and art history with environmentalism to create works which speak deeply of place, and her personal experience of the landscape.

In 2026 Lucy’s work was celebrated with a significant, commissioned solo exhibition at the Latrobe Regional Gallery. Lucy has also held solo exhibitions with Leighton Contemporary, Cook Street Collective and Brunswick Street Gallery and has been a finalist in the Ravenswood Australian women’s art prize, Fleurieu and Omnia Prizes. Lucy has delivered a large commissions for Farmers Daughters Restaurants in Melbourne, The Mowbray luxury apartments in Brisbane and the Victorian Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action. Her work and practice has been featured in The Design Files, Country Style Magazine, Home Beautiful and used in the ABC production ‘Fisk’. Lucy lives and works in the small regional Victorian town of Loch on Gunai-kurnai country (Gippsland), where she is actively engaged with the local arts community as director of the On Clarence studios and collective.

A short drive into the hills behind our little township you find yourself deep in the Strzelecki rainforest. A haven for birdlife, wallabies and wombats, the treefern gullies remind us of a time when the Gippsland landscape looked vastly different, and what we stand to lose in the face of a changing climate.

Rhi Johnson, Watch and Wait, 2025

Rhiannan Johnson is a mother, stepmother, wife, artist, and academic. Her creative practice interrogates and honours the everyday, with a particular focus on mundane encounters, personal comforts and discomforts, and the lived reality of traumatic experience. At present, Johnson is an Associate Professor of Creative Arts at the University of Southern Queensland, where she teaches printmaking and two-dimensional practice. She has studied at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology and has exhibited creative works both nationally and internationally since 2007.

Lucy Juhnke, Get A Real Job, 2026

Lucy Juhnke is an emerging artist living in the Mid North Coast. Since 2021 Juhnke has exhibited widely across regional New South Wales and was a finalist in Northern Exposure 9 at the Glasshouse Regional Gallery in 2026. She has shown 3 solo exhibitions: Facts and Figurines, The Elephant in the Room, and Outside the Box. Working primarily with interiors and everyday objects, Juhnke examines the home as both a physical and psychological environment - a place that shapes and is shaped by its inhabitants. Juhnke's subject matter reflects a generation engaged in ongoing negotiations of identity, and changing roles in our developing society. Domestic space becomes a host for comfort, autonomy, and belonging, as well as a space shaped by vulnerability, labour, and boundaries.

Juhnke's approach to painting is robust and dynamic, blending abstraction with still life and portraiture. Mainly working with acrylic on wood panel, she emphasises a practical and intuitive approach, embracing imperfections and accidents. Juhnke often incorporates mixed media, found or repurposed objects, distressed materials, and subtle collage. This extends to the frames, most of which are custom made in house from vintage or found materials. 

This work was painted while I gallery sat for my exhibition 'Outside the Box.' I did 3 smaller paintings of the gallery space the same day, always including the checkerboard floor. This type of repetition has become an important part of my practice, as an act of focus and gratitude. The book in the painting was given to me for free when I visited John Murray's gallery in Lightning Ridge, because it had a small mark.

Two Hoots: Teatime for Owl Lovers celebrates the beauty of nature through a playful still life inspired by collecting, storytelling and shared rituals. Drawing on my background in costume design, I combine vintage ceramics, patterned textiles and botanical elements to create a richly layered composition where every object contributes to the narrative. Two owls become quiet observers, inviting viewers to pause, look closely and find joy in the familiar. Bold colour, expressive brushwork and intricate pattern transform everyday objects into characters with presence and personality. Balancing realism with decorative abstraction, I celebrate curiosity, memory, connection and the enduring pleasure together.

Julie Lynch is a full-time Australian artist whose work celebrates the beauty of nature through richly layered still lifes inspired by vintage and contemporary objects. With a background in costume design for theatre, she brings a strong sense of colour, composition and storytelling to her paintings. Cathryn McEwen, Crowded House, 2025

A passionate advocate for the Central Coast art community, Cathryn McEwen is also an accomplished artist and teacher and has been exhibiting her work since the 1980s. Her work has been recognised in major art prizes, including the Kennedy Prize, Lethbridge Art Prize, North Sydney Art Prize, Hornsby Art Prize, and Gosford Art Prize.

Her still life paintings pay homage to the objects and memories of generations past – particularly the memories held in older glass bottles. She invites us to make a closer inspection and appreciate the translucent qualities of this fragile material, especially to discover the colours, shapes and the textural effects distorted in collectible glass bottles - nostalgic layers of another time and place.

Nicola Mason, Napoleon Reef III, 2025

Nic Mason is an artist living and working near Bathurst in Wiradjuri country in regional Australia. She mostly draws and paints in her art practice. She is interested in how engagement in art can bring about new ways of thinking. She is richly informed by both her background in conservation and land management following her Bachelor of Science degree and her domestic life living regionally. Her every-day and ways of seeing are reflected in her work where she sees, draws and paints things in things.

She is in the early to mid-stages of her art career following studies in the Painting Workshop at the Australian National University in 2016/17 and her honours year in Fine Arts at University of New South Wales in 2019/20 where she was listed on the Dean’s List for Academic Excellence.

Her work has been selected for numerous national art exhibitions and prizes including the Wynne Prize 2026, Art Gallery of NSW and both the S. H. Ervin Salon des refusés (alternate Archibald portrait) in 2023 and 2021 and the Salon des refusés (alternate Wynne landscape) 2021. Her work won the Inaugural Central Belonging Art Prize, Cowra Regional Art Gallery 2025.

Julie Lloyd, Made to Order, 2026

A landmark within the rural landscape, just an ordinary place, somewhere to connect and pause. A testament to community and the stories of the everyday. Biscuits , Gin and Sauce with Chair. Domestic chaos, it’s honest, lived in and full of character. The clutter is imperfect but there is beauty in the ordinary and the practical of everyday living in my farmhouse kitchen.

Julie Lloyd lives and works in rural regional South Australia, eight years ago she took her first formal painting lesson working with oils. She has worked under professional tutors and artists Nona Burden SA ,Michael Simms NSW, Nicole Kelly NSW ,John R Walker NSW, Mark Dober VIC, and Dr Sue Michael SA. She has been the recipient of Skills development grants through Regional Arts Australia and Country Arts SA in 2022 and 2023, quick response grant 2024 and been chosen as part of Nebula 2021 by Country Arts SA. Residencies at Pitcairn Station with John R Walker in 2021 [Country Arts Sa] and ‘Heart and Soul Of the country’ with Dr Barbara Piscitelli AM across the Goyder area in 2023/24.

In 2020 her first Solo exhibition ‘Within’ was part of SALA [South Australian Living artists] and explored interiors and the spaces within. In 2023 her solo exhibition ‘Inside out’ was again part of SALA and was a combination of still life and landscapes. She has been a part of several group exhibitions from 2019 through to 2022 of which one was a culmination of The Nebula 2021 group [Country arts SA] coming together from all over SA to exhibit in a curated show at the Burra Regional gallery.

She has been the Winner of the Clare Valley Portrait prize in 2019 and 2022,winner of the identity portrait Clare art show 2025,winner the Burra Regional Gallery Portrait prize in 2023 ,2024,2025 &2026. winner of the Burra regional gallery Art of the Flower competition in 2024 and 2022. Winner of Best Oil/Acrylic Clare Valley Rotary Art show in 2024 and 2022. 2nd place in John Villiers Outback art prize 2023 .Finalist in Royal society of the Arts South Australia Portrait prize 2024 with 3 portraits, finalist in the Smallacombe Portrait prize 2022 ,2023 and 2024. David Lake, Waiting For Rain - White Cliffs, 2026

David Lake is a self taught painter of the Australian landscape and Fellow of the Royal Art society of NSW. He began painting whilst at high school in what could be best described as a trial and error approach - persistence proved to be a vital attribute. David has been exhibiting with commercial galleries since the late 1980's. in the last 20 years he has won in excess of 100 first prizes and as many commendations.

My interest in painting the landscape is an effort to understand the changing effects of light and colour and translate that with oil paint on canvas. I select and paint scenes that interest me and if by chance they should engage with another individual that is an added bonus.

Karen Ritchie, Midday Heat CW NSW, 2026

Karen studied fine arts at TAFE NSW and attended workshops with many tutoring professional artists including Ted Lewis, Warwick Fuller, Peter Griffen, Jacqueline Coates, Lyn Butchart, Colley Whisson, Ken Tucker, Craig Penny, Robert Knight, Victoria Tucson, Larissa Blake, Loretta Blake, Kristine Ballard, Cherry Hood, Judith White, Rhonda Campbell, Debbie MacKinnon, Paul Macklin, Tim Allen.

Karen entered Parkes and Forbes Agricultural Shows over recent years, winning awards in various sections. In 2024 awarded ‘Grand Champion, Fine Arts’ at Forbes and winner of floral and abstract sections at Parkes Show. Since leaving full time teaching Karen has concentrated on her art, developing style and technique and passing her skills on to others through developing and facilitating workshops including privately and with Parkes and Forbes Shire Councils and other service organisations.

Karen is a member of the Parkes, Forbes and Orange Art Societies and has been involved in solo and group exhibitions, with her work in private and local government collections around Australia. Karen works in a variety of mediums including acrylics, oils, watercolour and mixed media and seek inspiration from the environment particularly the natural landscape of central west NSW. Karen employs a loose, free flowing brush style that seeks to capture movement and the transient nature of our environment.

Ann Rayment, Where Time Settles, 2026

Ann Rayment is a contemporary mixed media artist from Dolphin Point NSW, known for her bold, energetic brushstrokes and experimental approach to collage.

Driven by a love for expressive marks, she creates dynamic and layered compositions that respond directly to the environments she encounters. Often painting en plein air, Ann captures the essence of the landscape, allowing the spontaneous energy of her brushwork and materials to guide her expression. She then returns to the studio in her home where she deconstructs the painted memories and applies them to canvas as collage and builds the artwork.

A self-taught artist, Ann has exhibited her work in various galleries and art shows around Australia.

I live in the Blue Mountains and mainly paint landscapes and occasionally quirky dogs that I have met. I am inspired by the beautiful scenery surrounding me and around Carcoar, the Capertee Valley and when I am lucky enough to travel.
