Not at all! These sessions are designed for artists at any stage, whether you're just starting out or already exhibiting regularly.

    Can I book a one-off mentoring session?
Yes. Many artists start with a single session and then book more later if they want to dive deeper.

Can we do everything over Zoom?
Yes! Most services, including mentoring, strategy, and content planning, can be done remotely. We'll just ask for any images or documents ahead of time.

What if I don't like being on camera or filmed?
That’s totally fine! We’ll work with whatever you’re comfortable with and find a style that suits you, whether that’s photos only, hands-only process reels, or written content.

Can I build my own package?
Absolutely. If you'd like to mix photography, mentoring, and content in a way that suits your needs, just get in touch and we’ll work out a custom quote.

How do I book or get started?
Click Apply or Inquire, or email Madeline at cornerstoregallery@outlook.com with a bit about what you need. We’ll take it from there.

Artist Residency Program

Our Artist Residency Program offers exhibiting artists the opportunity to live and work onsite at The Corner Store Gallery in Orange, NSW. Set in a quiet regional neighbourhood just minutes from the centre of town, the program allows you to fully immerse yourself in your practice, connect with new audiences, and experience life in a creative regional community.

  • Selected artists are invited to:

    • Exhibit a solo body of work at The Corner Store Gallery

    • Stay onsite in a beautifully designed private residence behind the gallery (optional add-on)

    • Work in our dedicated studio space, located between the gallery and the house

    • Focus on their own creative development during the residency

    • Offer a workshop or community event (optional)

    • Receive full curatorial, promotional, and installation support

Residencies typically run for 2–3 weeks, and are carefully curated to suit each artist's needs.

    You’ll also receive:

    • Professional photography of your exhibition and work

    • A blog interview and behind-the-scenes content shared across our digital channels

    • Promotion through our newsletter, website, Instagram and local event listings

    • A discounted commission rate on artwork sold during your residency period

Our audience is national, with strong online engagement across Australia. The program is ideal for artists looking to step away from their routine, build momentum in their practice, and take part in a supported, artist-focused experience.

  • Residencies are offered four times per year, :

    • Summer – Late January

    • Autumn – May

    • Winter – July

    • Spring – September

Orange is known for its stunning natural beauty and distinct four seasons, from crisp, golden autumns to snow-dusted winters, colourful spring blooms and vibrant summer skies. Our first residency opportunity begins in January, and we’re currently accepting expressions of interest. Each season brings something unique to the Orange region, and we encourage artists to engage with the local environment, pace, and mood during their stay.

  • Artists have the option to stay onsite in a beautifully designed, mid-to-high end home located just behind the gallery. You’ll have exclusive use of the bottom floor, and the house to yourself, which includes a private bedroom, kitchen, bathroom, living area and courtyard leading to the gallery. The space is quiet, comfortable, close to everything, and ideal for artists looking to combine their exhibition with focused studio time or rest.

Accommodation is available as an optional add-on, and fees are kept affordable. If you prefer to make your own arrangements, you're absolutely welcome to find alternative accommodation in town.

  • Artists are expected to be present during their exhibition and to staff the gallery during open hours. This model allows the artist complete ownership over their exhibition experience and full immersion in their practice.

We understand that artists are often balancing other work or family commitments, so we tailor residency plans around your needs and availability.

  • We’re currently accepting expressions of interest for 2026. To apply, send the following to cornerstoregallery@outlook.com:

    • Your name, contact details, and website/Instagram

    • Artist CV and bio

    • A short statement about your practice and why you’d like to do a residency

    • 5 - 8 images of recent work

  • Do I have to live in the house?
No, on-site accommodation is optional, you can find your own accommodation OR you’re welcome to participate in the residency and live locally.

Can I bring my family or partner?
This is a single-person residency, but your partner is welcome, we do not have space for more people. The house is the family home of the Gallery Director and only one bedroom is available.

    Is there a studio space?
Yes! We now offer a dedicated artist studio attached to the gallery. Artists can work there during gallery hours throughout their stay.

Is there a cost to apply?
No. The residency is free to participate in, with a discounted commission on sales during your exhibition period. Accommodation fees apply only if you choose to stay onsite.

Can I offer a workshop during my residency?
Absolutely! You’re welcome to host a public workshop, open studio, or artist talk during your stay, and in fact it is very much encouraged. This is a great way to make extra income.

Testimonials

I have always thought that Madi whole heartedly appreciated my creative process and the uniqueness of my art practice. This translates into heartfelt and tireless promotion of my work. She also makes me laugh, is super organised and tells me the truth. - Pippita Bennett.

My relationship with The Corner Store Gallery has been nothing but positive. The opportunities presented by entering art prizes hosted by the Gallery, and from being selected as a finalist, has given my work valuable exposure to the wide audience Madi Young has built, both in person, and online. A recent opportunity to have a solo online exhibition was both a great success and a great experience for me. I now proudly belong to the Gallery's stable of regular artists, and continue to enjoy working with this Gallery that puts the best interests of its exhibiting artists foremost. - Jo Dunsmuir.

Having a solo exhibition at The Corner Store Gallery was a thoroughly enjoyable, streamlined and stress-free experience. Director Madeline Young is a joy to work with, really easy to communicate with and extremely efficient with all the protocols, terms and conditions around selling and promoting the work before, during and after the show clearly established. In addition to having a superb curatorial eye resulting in an exhibition that made me really proud of what I’d created, her marketing strategies on social media and the gallery website are next level with her photographs and videos expertly capturing the artwork and promoting the show enticingly. I looked after the gallery on a couple of days, and it is set up so well that it could pretty much run itself. Madi made the whole experience of exhibiting in her gallery so delightful that I want to move to Orange. - Libby Moore.
