INSIDE THIS BOX returns to The Corner Store Gallery for another year, bringing together a vibrant collection of small-scale artworks by artists and designers from across Australia.

Presented within an intimate 30x30cm format, this much-loved exhibition celebrates big ideas in small spaces. Each artwork fits within a box-sized boundary, inviting viewers to slow down, look closely, and discover remarkable creativity, skill, and originality on a miniature scale. The result is a dynamic and diverse exhibition spanning a wide range of mediums, styles, and subject matter, from painting and drawing to sculpture, textile and mixed media.

Proudly supported by Sale Street Real Estate and Chalou Wines, INSIDE THIS BOX showcases works selected for their originality, craftsmanship, strong concepts, and visual impact, as well as their resonance with our gallery audience.

This exhibition is a celebration of detail, innovation, and the joy of collecting small works, proof that powerful art doesn’t need a large canvas to make a lasting impression.

WINNER

Elizabeth Sullivan, Map of Play

Hand stitched and beaded on painted linen, 22x22cm framed

Elizabeth is a full-time textile artist working from her home studio in Sydney. She creates tactile “stitch paintings” inspired by the natural world. Working intuitively, Elizabeth uses thread, yarn, beads, and other embellishments to build layered textile compositions on linen or canvas, approaching her work much like a painter. Her practice begins organically and gradually transitions into a more intentional phase, where she refines the composition with considered adjustments, balancing spontaneity with deliberate decision-making.

“Map Of Play” explores pattern, shape, and mark-making through stitch and beading. The work is a playful abstraction, loosely referencing natural patterns and imagined pathways. Stitch operates as both line and gesture, inviting close viewing and encouraging curiosity, play, and contemplation.

PEOPLE’S CHOICE

Claire Weaver, Paisley Pear

Acrylic on canvas, 28x28cm framed

Claire Weaver is a visual artist living in Naarm (Melbourne) and was the winner of Art to Art’s 2025 Unearthed Art Prize People’s Choice Award.

Claire is passionate about capturing and celebrating the beauty of nature, everyday scenes and the simple things in life. Her love of nature and university studies in Environmental Management influence her work, as does her desire to slow down and ‘smell the roses’ amongst life’s face-paced daily routines and demands.

Claire enjoys creating colourful still life and nature-based compositions and working with oil pastels, acrylics, oils and watercolours. She views her art as a means by which she, and hopefully others, can pause to appreciate the surrounding environment. Claire’s art invites viewers to make space for gratitude, peace and reflection.

‘Paisley Pear’ is an ode to a familiar pattern and fruit, one which reminds us of peaceful days and simpler times. Its vintage vibes are soothing and restorative. Time stands still.
