Today we are revisiting the fabulous studio of one of our most beloved local artists Jaq Davies.  Jaq exhibited with us in 2015 for Field of Dreams and again in 2016 with her partner Glenn Hoyle.  You can see the full story from 2015 here and 2016 here.

Jaq has been working on a new body of work for On Common Ground, our F.O.O.D. Week 2017 exhibition.  This is what she had to say about her new work:

"My paintings in this exhibition reference actual places, imagined places and internalised places.  I begin each work with ideas; images of landscape and form there allow the varied  processes of mark making, layering of paint and the feel of the work to take it to its eventual end point.......   Just like a landscape, with a painting there is always a journey involved."

Madeline Young

The Corner Store Gallery is owned and operated by Madeline Holborow.  Madeline completed a degree in Fine Arts at the University of Newcastle and has since worked as the Artist in Residence at an educational institution from 2010-14.  She has been teaching art and craft workshops for over 7 years and continues to do so in the gallery.  Madeline is interested in all areas of artistic practice and design and hopes to share her interests, through the gallery, with the local community.
