Ana Anderson - From BLACKENED Earth
Exhibition Dates: July 6th - 19th
Online Sales Launch: 7pm July 6th
In this new series, From Blackened Earth, Ana returns her attention to the Australian landscape in the wake of fire. This body of work is a meditation on transformation - how destruction gives way to renewal finding balance through contrast. Inspired by walking through bushland scarred by fire, Ana is struck by the vivid interplay of charred earth and new growth. Deep blacks, ashen greys, and burnt ochre sit beside flashes of green, soft pinks and bold oranges, forming a visual language that speaks of loss, survival and beauty. Through layered texture and gestural brush work, her work evokes both the drama and the quiet of the post fire landscape. Each painting is both a tribute to nature’s cycles and a reminder of our connection to a living environment that endures and evolves.
Ana Anderson is a contemporary Australian artist known for her modern, colourful abstract landscape paintings. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours, 2007) from the National Art School and creates expressive works that explore the connection between people and the Australian landscape.
Her paintings blur the line between reality and abstraction, capturing vibrant places of escape and reflection. Through layered compositions and an intuitive process, Ana evokes the open spaces, shifting light, and natural rhythms of the Australian environment.
Ana’s work has been recognised in major Australian art awards, including the Dobell Prize for Drawing, Adelaide Perry Drawing Prize, Churchie National Emerging Art Prize, Mosman Art Prize, Metro 5 Art Award, and the Doug Moran National Portrait Prize (semi-finalist). She has completed residencies at the Storrier Onslow NAS Paris Studio and Hill End, and was awarded the Mini Series Art Prize, leading to a solo exhibition at the Corner Store Gallery in 2022.
Ana Anderson’s abstract landscape paintings offer a unique and contemporary interpretation of the natural world.
