Jessica Olpp is a Melbourne-based artist known for her atmospheric still life and landscape paintings. Her work is characterised by a quiet lyricism and an appreciation for stillness, drawing inspiration from both the Australian and French countryside, as well as simple domestic moments observed in everyday life.
Raised among the bushlands of Warrandyte and having lived and worked in France, Jessica brings a poetic and contemplative sensibility to her practice. Rather than focusing on precise detail, she seeks to capture a feeling - allowing mood, memory, and atmosphere to emerge through restrained compositions and a subtle, refined use of colour. Her paintings have been described as serene, evocative, and nostalgic, inviting viewers to pause and find beauty in the ordinary.
A lifelong creative, Jessica began painting as a meditative balance to her career as a French teacher. Her background in classical dance, poetry, and languages continues to inform her work, contributing to the sense of rhythm, sensitivity, and quiet storytelling that defines her practice.
Jessica's work has been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions across Australia, including a solo exhibition at Wild Canary in Queensland. She has been a finalist in several respected art prizes, including Inside This Box, The Next Big Thing Art Prize, and The Doyles Art Award. Her paintings have been featured at the Affordable Art Fair in Brisbane and Sydney, published in Country Style magazine, and selected for a range of residential and commercial interiors.
