Emerging Newcastle artist Jodi Thompson creates small, colourful oil paintings of stylised interiors, capturing warmth, light, and the quiet beauty of everyday life. Predominantly self-taught, she has refined her painting practice through classes, experimentation, and ongoing exploration. What began as a lifelong love of art has grown into a distinctive style shaped by trial, error, and persistence.
Her paintings focus on interiors, exploring the meeting point of light, texture, and stillness. Simple forms gradually evolve into layered compositions, capturing the quiet beauty of everyday spaces and objects. Through colour, shadow, and atmosphere, Jodi transforms the ordinary into something quietly compelling.
Her work has been recognised in several local and interstate art prizes and featured in multiple group exhibitions. In 2025, she will present her online collection, showcasing a body of oil paintings that celebrate warmth, light, and the intimacy of domestic interiors within contemporary Australian art.
