Kate Galea is a contemporary abstract artist known for her bold, geometric compositions, vibrant colour palettes, and modern, architectural influence.
Originally trained in the early 2000s at Central Saint Martins, London College of the Arts, and the University of Reading, Kate relocated from London to Sydney 15 years ago. After three years travelling across Australia, she settled in Redfern, where she has recently reignited her passion for painting. In the past 18 months, Kate has re-entered the art world with energy and focus, exhibiting in group shows, completing private commissions, and receiving the Work of Excellence Award at the Glebe Art Show.
Kate’s current body of work brings together abstract, reductive, and geometric principles through sharp edges, layered patterns, and striking lines. Influenced by architecture, urban spaces, and overlooked environments, she creates colourful, modern abstract paintings that reflect on the growing presence of digital art and AI in the creative landscape. By using acrylic paint and precision masking techniques, Kate celebrates the capability of the human hand - embracing crisp repetition while allowing subtle imperfections to remain.
Her intention is to draw viewers into a world of shifting angles, evolving patterns, and endless colour combinations, encouraging a fresh visual discovery every time the work is seen.
