Studio Visit with Nicole Chaffey

Here at the Corner Store Gallery, we like our audience to have a little context when viewing our exhibitions. Recently I visited our very first solo exhibitor, Nicole Chaffey, in her gorgeous studio in Newcastle, located in the industrial suburb of Georgetown. I was led down a driveway out the back of a framing shop to an artist oasis. Brick walls covered in street art and an overgrown succulent garden preceded a small door opening into a large shed. Surrounding the shared kitchen and common area were five artists' individual studios. Initially the shed was a hollow shell, but these artists have tailored the space to suit their practices.
