The Otways national park in Victoria is a dense and immersive landscape. This work aims to show how pockets of light filter through the canopy while colours and textures shift and change across bark, ferns, moss and damp vegetation.
Moving through these forests, scale and orientation quickly dissolve. The ground, understory, and canopy compete for attention, creating a sense of immersion rather than distance. The surface of this work is built through layered colour and wax resist methods, reflecting the overlapping and interconnected nature of the landscape.
