Karin Mizuno is an artist whose practice bridges the traditions of still life with her Japanese heritage, exploring the quiet poetry of everyday objects. Living and working in Australia, she interweaves two cultural contexts; the aesthetics of Japanese simplicity and balance with the vitality of contemporary Australian life. Her paintings transform domestic objects into meditations on harmony, rhythm, and presence.
Working primarily in oil, Mizuno uses her brushwork to infuse ordinary forms with a palpable sense of history and vitality. Each composition is carefully arranged to highlight the dialogue between light and shadow, revealing how these elements can animate the inanimate. Bowls, vessels, and familiar household items become more than objects; they are repositories of memory and touch, conduits for cultural and personal identity.
