A year ago I stayed at Captain's Rest in remote Tasmania, where a large flock of boisterous ducks would greet us each morning, hoping we might share our breakfast with them. I painted them during our stay, and have again taken inspiration from these hilarious creatures for this painting, of a certain Mr Roger Mallard. Mr Mallard has poor manners when it comes to mealtimes and rarely respects people's privacy. He is unusually vain about his iridescent green head feathers, which stand out amongst his flock of plainer brown female companions.
