I’m Sam - a watercolour artist, illustrator and farmer’s daughter from Central West, NSW. I live and work in Orange, NSW.
It was during the pandemic that I truly found my love of painting, particularly painting images that felt like home. I had been studying and living in Sydney when lockdown forced my return to the family farm. After the initial shock, I realised I had been given a gift - space. The gum trees and open spaces I had missed, were once again my backyard. And I never wanted to leave. So I stayed and I started painting.
I began painting every day with watercolour as a way of slowing down and appreciating the beauty of the landscape and the country way of life that I love. My art brought healing and helped me express my love for rural Australia, where I had grown up.
