Neha Gupte is an artist based in Sydney, Australia, though her creative journey began in Mumbai, India. Her artistic practice is deeply rooted in nature, drawing inspiration from the botanical world that surrounds her.
After moving to Australia, she discovered her passion for prints and patterns, which led her to work in surface pattern design. Working with watercolours, ink, pens, gouache, and color pencils, she creates intricate botanical patterns and expressive artworks that reflect the delicate balance between nature and human experience. Her creative process often begins with walks through her neighbourhood or visits to botanical gardens, where she photographs elements that spark inspiration.
For her, art serves as a sanctuary - a quiet space for emotional expression while creating artworks to reach kindred spirits who appreciate having a child like wonder, a slow life, value artistic expression, and see nature and art as a source of healing and reflection.
I began developing the artworks in this series without much planning, intuitively selecting photographs from my phone that I felt drawn to. What started as a spontaneous process gradually evolved into a cohesive series, shaped by a deep personal need to reconnect with nature. Creating these pieces became a way for me to find grounding and emotional safety - a quiet practice of noticing and capturing the sensory experience of being in nature’s presence.
