Sam Suttie is a contemporary Australian artist based on Mount Tamborine, Queensland. Originally from South Africa, she relocated to Australia in 2008, where she pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Visual Art at Griffith University. After a decade-long hiatus from painting, Suttie returned to her artistic practice in 2018, focusing on oil painting.

Suttie’s work is characterised by its meticulous still life compositions, often featuring native Australian flora, birds, and symbolic elements. Her paintings are created from her imagination, drawing upon reference materials and occasionally three-dimensional objects. The arrangements are imbued with metaphysical themes and social commentary, reflecting her interests in environmental issues, climate change, and biographical narratives.

Working from her purpose-built studio on the southeastern side of Mount Tamborine, Suttie finds inspiration in the natural beauty of her surroundings. Her art has been exhibited in various galleries across Australia

In 2025, Suttie continues to evolve her practice, exploring new creative avenues to connect with like-minded individuals and expand her artistic expression.
