Clare Dubina (b. 1977, UK) is a multidisciplinary artist based in Naarm / Melbourne, working across painting and ceramics. She holds a BFA in Printmaking from The University of the Arts, Philadelphia (USA), and after a career in fashion photography and visual merchandising, returned to her art practice in 2020 to pursue it full-time.
Centred on the female form, Clare’s work explores the strength, vulnerability and complexity of femininity through abstraction. Using a refined balance of colour, line, shape and negative space, her practice is guided by intuition and a deep trust in process.
Often asked how long a painting takes to complete, Clare began to question the idea that an artwork’s value could be measured by time alone. Guided by the mantra “Time will tell”, she allows each piece to evolve freely, embracing uncertainty and the beauty of not knowing exactly where the work will lead.
Clare has collaborated with leading Australian brands and has been featured by The Design Files and Hunter & Folk. She recently celebrated her second sold-out Sydney exhibition, and her work is held in private collections across Australia, New Zealand, the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom.
