Rhonda Campbell is an Australian mixed media artist whose paintings explore landscape, still life, memory and place through rich layers of colour, texture and mark-making. A graduate of the National Art School and Alexander Mackie College in Sydney, Rhonda spent many years working in teaching, fashion and design before returning to her painting practice in 2000.
Drawing inspiration from travels throughout Outback Australia, Europe and Asia, Rhonda creates highly textured works using oil, pigment and cold wax. Embracing intuition and spontaneity, she builds and scratches back layers, allowing unexpected discoveries to emerge throughout the process.
In recent years, her practice has moved towards abstraction, with traces of landscape and still life remaining as points of reference. Her paintings capture atmosphere, emotion and the lasting impression of a place, inviting viewers to connect with the work through their own memories and experiences.
