Sturt Summer School, Southern Highlands

Inking up area

This past Summer I was lucky enough to attend the Sturt Summer School in Mittagong in the Southern Highlands.  The Sturt Gallery runs all different types of arts and craft workshops through their Summer School, Winter School and Weekend courses.  Everything from silver-smithing and wood turning through to etching is offered.  I can't believe it's taken me this long to catch on to this fantastic opportunity, I have no hesitation in recommending it to you, it was quite incredible the amount and quality of work people had produced in one week, very impressive.

The short course I completed was "etching in colour" taught by master print maker Basil Hall, one of the most talented, generous and patient men I have ever had the pleasure of meeting.  Basil has a very long list of achievements in the printmaking world so I won't list them here, but I will provide a link to his website so you can see yourself!

Here are a few pictures of the etching workshop and of various other courses that took place at Sturt this Summer.
