Jacqui Sosnowski has been fascinated with various “primitive firing” techniques of ceramics after becoming disillusioned with traditional glazed pottery.

She is intrigued by the raku firing, and in particular, obvara, which is an ancient medieval Baltic surface treatment, which uses only the natural ingredients of flour, yeast and water to create organic and permanent markings.

Jacqui is a retired university tutor, marketing professional and now, a full-time ceramicist. She has an Advanced Diploma in Ceramics and works from her Studio in Mullumbimby.
