Skye Rollo is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice centres on mixed media collage, with a particular interest in the material language of found and discarded objects. With a background in interior design, Rollo brings a sensitivity to spatial composition, texture, and form that informs her intuitive and layered approach to image-making.

Rollo’s practice is driven by a deep engagement with the overlooked and the ordinary. She explores the aesthetic and conceptual potential of found objects, particularly those marked by time, wear, and human interaction. Through a process of careful selection and composition, Rollo elevates the mundane—worn pages, torn edges, faded covers—foregrounding their imperfections as a language of memory and transformation. Books, maps, and other ephemeral materials are recurring motifs in her work, acting as metaphors for knowledge, loss, and potential. By abstracting their original functions, these objects are reframed as open-ended narratives—simultaneously relics of the past and vessels for future speculation. Over the past decade, she has exhibited widely in both solo and group exhibitions across Australia. Her work continues to evolve through an ongoing engagement with themes of impermanence, material memory, and the quiet agency of everyday objects.

In this series of mixed media collages, Rollo interrogates the material remnants of the past through the poetic recontextualisation of discarded objects. Her compositions foreground aged surfaces—book covers, graph paper, tissue, cardboard, and thread—as sites of quiet resistance to obsolescence. Each work evokes an archaeology of the everyday, where objects worn by time and use are not merely salvaged, but reanimated within new aesthetic and conceptual frameworks.

Throughout the series, Rollo’s use of collage is neither decorative nor didactic—it is archaeological. Each work offers a fragmentary archive in which histories are only partially visible, inviting viewers to consider what has been lost, what endures, and how meaning is continually re-authored through the act of assemblage. These works resist closure, instead operating in the liminal space between memory and materiality, presence and absence.
