Textile Raffia, emu feathers, woven piece, 90x75cm, ready to hang

Kylie enjoys creating pieces that feature raffia that are both colourful and contemporary in style.
Her textile based works take inspiration from flowers and nature elements featuring mini bush scoops/carriers as the centrepiece and Quandong seed.

Kylie learnt to weave from her aunties and cousins on her father's country In Parramatta, (Baramada) Sydney. Her art practice features sustainable methods using up all of the scrap pieces twined together in her weaved wall hangings which are often disposed of. Her raffia is hand dyed and her favourite pink is derived from saltbush berries a native plant. Residing on a property in Cowra NSW where she works from her garden to create botanically dyed pieces and plant illustrations. Her stories are gathered by hand.
