Leonie Barton - The Forest Will be My Doorway #1
Leonie Barton, The Forest will be My Doorway #1, 2026
Pigment, oil and wax on board, 33x43cm, framed
Leonie Barton lives and works rurally on the Mid North Coast with a multi disciplined practice grounded in process, in the physical act of making. While references to lived experience, observation and memory may provide a point of departure, they remain a beginning and what follows is sustained time in the studio - doing, responding and refining until the completed artwork arrives. When the work feels balanced and quiet, it is complete. Barton has exhibited extensively in Sydney, Mudgee, Orange, Melbourne, London and Singapore, and was the recipient of the Anderson Art Award in 2025.
