Nastia Gladushchenko - Afterimage
Nastia Gladushchenko, Afterimage, 2026
Acrylic and oil stick on linen, 63x63cm, framed
Nastia Gladushchenko is a Blue Mountains-based painter whose practice explores memory, perception and the quiet forces that shape our relationship to place. Through layered fields of colour and abstraction, she investigates what is carried beneath conscious awareness, where personal histories intersect with broader questions of time, belonging and change. Her work has been exhibited across Australia and is held in private collections, with recent commissions including the Shoalhaven Hospital Redevelopment public art project.
Erasure and Afterimage explore memory not as a fixed archive, but as a living process of accumulation, loss and return. Working through layered surfaces, obscured forms and deep passages of colour, the paintings consider what remains after something has faded from view. Traces persist, shifting in meaning over time, suggesting that absence is never empty but shaped by what lingers beneath it. Together, the works invite reflection on the way memory continually dissolves and reforms, revealing that what appears lost is often still quietly present.
