Nic Mason is an artist living and working near Bathurst in Wiradjuri country in regional Australia. She mostly draws and paints in her art practice. She is interested in how engagement in art can bring about new ways of thinking. She is richly informed by both her background in conservation and land management following her Bachelor of Science degree and her domestic life living regionally. Her every-day and ways of seeing are reflected in her work where she sees, draws and paints things in things.

She is in the early to mid-stages of her art career following studies in the Painting Workshop at the Australian National University in 2016/17 and her honours year in Fine Arts at University of New South Wales in 2019/20 where she was listed on the Dean’s List for Academic Excellence.

Her work has been selected for numerous national art exhibitions and prizes including the Wynne Prize 2026, Art Gallery of NSW and both the S. H. Ervin Salon des refusés (alternate Archibald portrait) in 2023 and 2021 and the Salon des refusés (alternate Wynne landscape) 2021. Her work won the Inaugural Central Belonging Art Prize, Cowra Regional Art Gallery 2025.
