Tara Coey - Morning Veil
Tara Coey, Morning Veil, 2026
Acrylic on canvas, 48.5x43.5cm framed
Tara Coey is a contemporary Australian landscape artist based in the Central West region of NSW. Working from her studio in Orange, she creates paintings that reflect the quiet rhythms of rural life and the subtle shifts of the seasons. Her work captures small but evocative moments in the landscape – mist softening a dirt road, light glinting across a paddock, or a fence line receding into the distance.
Since returning to painting in 2020, Tara has exhibited across New South Wales and Queensland. She was a finalist in the Corner Store Gallery Inside This Box Art Prize (2026) and Mini Series Art Prize (2025). She was also a finalist in Solstice and Foot Square exhibitions at Aspire Gallery (2025) and has exhibited at the Brisbane Affordable Art Fair (2026). She has shown her work at the Peisley Street Gallery (2024–25) where her first solo will take place in October 2026. Her background in communications and design informs her careful sense of balance and composition. Through restrained brushwork and thoughtful detail, Tara invites viewers to pause and reflect on the beauty of the Australian landscape.
"Morning Veil" captures the moment the first light of day meets the veil of mist that so often settles across the valleys surrounding Mt Canobolas | Gaanha Bula, as the landscape slowly emerges into morning.
