Natalie Lapardin is a Sydney-based realist painter with a background in both academic study and formal training at the Julian Ashton Art School. Her current body of work centres on still life, where she explores the quiet beauty of everyday objects.
“For this show my still life paintings feature subjects that have been soaked by the sun for their very existence. I like to think that gives them an inner glow, which Is something I aim to capture through the saturation of colours, contrast of light and dark, and the subtle nuances of reflected light. It is not an oppressive light that comes through my studio window, but rather a strong, diffused illumination that reveals the beauty of the everyday.”
