Tara Coey is a contemporary Australian landscape artist based in Orange, NSW, in the Central West region. Working primarily from her home studio, she creates paintings that reflect the quiet rhythms of rural life and the subtle shifts of the seasons. Her work captures small but evocative moments in the landscape – mist softening a dirt road, light glinting across a paddock, or a fence line receding into the distance.
Since returning to painting in 2020, Tara has exhibited across New South Wales and Queensland. She was a finalist in the Corner Store Gallery Mini Series Art Prize (2025) and has shown her work in SOLSTICE at Aspire Gallery (2025) and OFF THE WALL at Peisley Street Gallery (2024–25). Her background in communications and design informs her careful sense of balance and composition.
This new series builds on her prize-selected works, exploring mist-filled, atmospheric scenes where trees and scrub emerge as silhouettes. A quiet boundary line often runs through the compositions, creating a subtle sense of separation and perspective. Through restrained brushwork and thoughtful detail, Tara invites viewers to pause and reflect on the overlooked beauty of the Australian landscape.
